About ECE

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering of Baylor University offers nationally recognized programs of study in electrical and computer engineering (with B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. programs). Within this web site, useful information is available for students before they apply to Baylor, during the application process, and as one pursues a Baylor Electrical & Computer Engineering education.

Many ECE students are interested in subject areas like math and science, have a natural curiosity, and enjoy experimenting with the latest technological gadgets, like computers and robots. These are some of the traits engineers use in their everyday professions. There are other talents that are needed, like good communication and interpersonal skills, which we emphasize heavily at Baylor. As good stewards of God-given talents, the ECE students are also interested in developing Appropriate Technologies to help poor in underdeveloped countries, preserve environment, and develop sustainable energy sources.

Electrical & Computer Engineering discipline is the largest engineering profession in the workforce and Baylor electrical & computer engineering graduates are among the most sought after. The alumni have distinguished themselves within many high-tech and high-profile companies, including Raytheon, Dell, Accenture Consulting, Ernst & Young, Westinghouse, HP, General Electric, Northrop Grumman, Shell, Chrysler, Lockheed-Martin, AT&T, Texas Instruments, Unisys, Trane, Southwestern Bell, Exxon/Mobil, Texas Utilities, Motorola, and many others.
