M.E. - Master of Engineering
Master of Engineering - for students who wish to extend their undergraduate education and might like to take some MBA level business courses. This program is ideal for students interested in consulting work, product development, or appropriate technology for developing countries. The latter often involves traveling to the developing country to understand requirements and constraints, with anticipated return trips to assist in initial deployment.

One emphasis in the Master of Engineering program will be Appropriate Technology for Developing Countries. Students may choose a thesis that would involve developing some appropriate technology for a developing country. This will often involve traveling to the developing country to understand the requirements and the constraints, and possibly returning to the country to assist in initial deployment.
Master of Engineering students from industry may, with approval of their advisor, select a thesis project that is immediately relevant to their work responsibilities.
Courses & Curriculum
Course Work: 27-30 sem. hrs.
Thesis (engineering applications oriented): 3 - 6 sem. hrs.
Total: 33 sem. hrs.

Courses will be selected in consultation with the student's advisor. Some courses in the departments of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Environmental Studies may be included in this total with consent of the advisor.

Master of Engineering students may take up to 15 credits outside the Department of Engineering in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program or the departments of Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics with consent of the advisor.
