Commencement

As you near the end of your undergraduate career at Baylor, we want to provide you with the information you need to receive your diploma and/or participate in Baylor's commencement activities. The certification process for seniors varies by department. Please see specific instructions below based on your academic department.


Department of Computer Science

ECS seniors with a major in Computer Science or Bioinformatics will receive an email from the Department of Computer Science with instructions on how to file for graduation and due dates for filing. Seniors who plan to graduate in December will need to file for graduation with the Department of Computer Science, on or before October 1 of their final year. Seniors who plan to graduate in May or August will need to file for graduation with the Department of Computer Science on or before March 1 of their final year. Once you have made an appointment with Office Manager, Sharon Humphrey, a degree audit will be run to ensure that you are on track to graduate at the anticipated time. Any necessary petitions will be filed at that time. Additional questions can be directed to Sharon Humphrey at (254) 710-6821.

Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering

ECS seniors with a major in Engineering or Electrical & Computer Engineering will receive an “Intent to Graduate" form during the first week of EGR 4390. Students who do not take EGR 4390 in their last semester will need to request an “Intent to Graduate" form from Office Manager, Michelle Aars in Rogers 301. Once you have filled out the “Intent to Graduate" form in its entirety and run a degree audit to ensure that you are on track to complete all necessary course requirements, return the form to Michelle Aars. The “Intent to Graduate" form will be used to verify major, minor(s), concentration(s) and graduation year in Baylor’s system. Seniors that will require a petition for graduation should follow the formal Petition Process. Additional questions can be directed to Michelle Aars at (254) 710-4188.

Department of Mechanical Engineering

ECS seniors with a major in Mechanical Engineering will receive an "Intent to Graduate" form during the first week of EGR 4390. Students who do not take EGR 4390 in their last semester will need to request an "Intent to Graduate" form from Office Manager, Sara Baker in Rogers 200. Once you have filled out the "Intent to Graduate" form in its entirety and run a degree audit to ensure that you are on track to complete all necessary course requirements, return the form to Minnie Simcik. The "Intent to Graduate" form will be used to verify major, minor(s), concentration(s) and graduation year in Baylor's system. Seniors that will require a petition for graduation should follow the formal Petition Process. Additional questions can be directed to Sara Baker at (254) 710-3877.
