Where Learning Can Flourish...
The ECS-LLC is perfect for engineers and computer scientists who want to embrace education at the highest level!

In the fall of 2004, 600 Baylor students moved into the North Village, Baylor's first new residential community in almost 40 years. The community consists of three residential houses and one community center. The residential houses have apartment style suites with private bathrooms. One part of the community center has faculty/staff offices, project rooms, and a state of the art classroom, while the other side of the community center features a café. The Seasons 3:1 Sushi Bar provides a great atmosphere where students can relax and talk about everything from last night's intramural game to what they are learning in the classroom. Additional features include a beautiful fireplace, a stage for events, and a small study area. Chili's Too and Starbucks are located right next door.

The detail of the design of the North Village is astounding. The Spiritual Symbolism ranges from the Spiritual Walkway that runs the length of the community to the more subtle designs of the buildings themselves.

A portion of the North Village is dedicated to the Engineering & Computer Science Living-Learning Center (ECS-LLC). The ECS-LLC was Baylor's first living-learning center and is designed to foster a balance between serious intellectual pursuits and social interaction both in the classroom and living room. The community started in 2004 with 40 students and has grown to over 270 students this upcoming year. This environment is geared toward high quality students who believe in community and who are dedicated to learning outside of just the lecture setting. It also encourages close interaction with fellow engineering and computer science students, as well as professors.

The ECS-LLC is perfect for engineers and computer scientists who want to embrace education at the highest level. Across the nation, research has shown that students who have greater interaction with faculty and who are able to pursue with peers their academic interests inside and outside of the classroom have greater college experiences than those who do not. As a future engineer or computer scientist, you have the opportunity to live in a special community that will help you succeed in an intense academic program. By forming academic communities that offer mentoring between upperclassmen and freshmen, accessibility of faculty on-site, discussion groups, and lab support, students' capabilities can be fully actualized. To ensure that students succeed in the ECS-LLC, a full-time staff person, Adam Ecklund offices in the Community Center and directs all programming for students.
