Dr. Linda Olafsen, associate professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was awarded the title of Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in August. The process of becoming a senior member of this institute is a highly competitive one as only 10 percent of the IEEE’s estimated 400,000 members have reached this status.
Regarding her accomplishment, Dr. Olafsen said, “I am grateful for the nomination of my Baylor [Electrical and Computer Engineering] colleagues for elevation to the status of Senior Member of IEEE. This accomplishment reflects my 21 years of membership in the IEEE and IEEE Photonics Society as well as my significant contributions to the field of mid-infrared semiconductor lasers and optoelectronic devices.”
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is very proud of Dr. Olafsen as it truly reflects the depth of her dedication to her work and how valuable an asset she is to the research conducted at Baylor.
