Student Leadership Positions
Baylor ECS Innovate Leaders serve as a small group leader for rising 11th and 12th grade students interested in learning about Baylor’s Engineering and Computer Science programs. Leaders will facilitate student learning and engagement throughout the week and serve as a positive representative of the values of Baylor ECS.

Requirements & Expectations
- Leaders must be a full-time, undergraduate student who will graduate in December 2026 or later.
- Leaders must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 to serve in a leadership position. The School of Engineering and Computer Science also expects student leaders to achieve a GPA of 2.5 or higher in the spring semester prior to serving as a summer camp leader.
- Leaders will be provided with on-campus housing for the duration of Innovate leader training and Innovate camp sessions (July 8 - July 25)
- Leaders will not be allowed to concurrently work any other job due to their leadership commitment.
- Leaders will not be able to take summer classes during Summer 2, at Baylor or any other institution (including online classes), due to their leadership commitment and federal law.
- Leaders are expected to demonstrate an active Christian faith.
- Leaders agree to abide by all aspects of the University's Student Conduct Code for the duration of their employment.
- If for any reason, from the time a leader is selected to serve with Baylor ECS Innovate until they end of their service, a leader is in violation of the Student Conduct Code, they must inform the Assistant Director for Recruitment & Outreach within 48 hours of the violation.
- It is strongly desired that leaders respond with maturity throughout their employment when faced with challenges - mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational.
- Leaders should possess the ability to be flexible and responsible as they will be given a wide variety of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: arriving at prescribed locations on time, working in a professional environment, living responsibly in community, completing tasks and assignments given by the program leader(s), co-leading academic activities with faculty, and facilitating a camp experience for prospective Baylor students.
- Leaders should possess a commitment to diversity and inclusion and show value and care for each individual student and guest.
- At times, leaders may be required to engage in a fair amount of physical activity in excessive heat. Temperatures can consistently reach over 100 degrees in Waco during the summer. Leaders, with or without assistance, will need to lift 15 pounds and, at times, carry their possessions on their person (typically in a backpack). If a leader needs accommodation regarding these requirements, he or she should reach out ECS Staff members directly.
Dates of Employment
- July 8 - 10 (Training)
- July 12 - 17 (Innovate Session 1)
- July 19 - 24 (Innovate Session 2)
Compensation
- Leaders will be paid hourly at a rate of $15/hour for training (approximately 20 hours)
- Leaders will receive a stipend of $1,350 per session of camp (2 sessions total)
- Housing and program meals will be provided during the term of employment (July 8-25. Meals will not be provided on weekends when training / camp is not in session)
- Students who are selected and accept the position during the Priority Application Timeline (Dec. 15 - Feb. 15) will receive a travel incentive valued up to $400.

Purpose
The School of Engineering and Computer Science is looking for engaged Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, General Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, and Bioinformatics majors to serve as ECS Ambassadors. It is our hope that ECS Ambassadors will serve as the face of the school for all constituents (prospective students & families, current students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other constituents), both in person and virtually through recruiting events and social media content creation.
Expectations
ECS Ambassadors will represent the School of Engineering and Computer Science at events that promote community building of current students, faculty, and staff, events for prospective students and families, and events that promote community outreach. ECS Ambassadors are expected to communicate accurate information in a professional and timely manner.
Requirements
- ECS Ambassadors must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor
- Must be an ECS major
- Must be in good standing with the University
Job Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and professional information about the School of Engineering and Computer Science through one-on-one meetings, panels, group tours, private tours, and other events as requested
- Assist in planning and implementing ECS recruitment events such as Invitation to Excellence (I2E), Distinguished Scholars Day (DSD), Baylor Bound, Bear for a Day, and other events
- Provide ECS Tours and BRIC tours for prospective families
- Attend required training sessions and supervisory meetings
- Attend other recruiting initiatives as requested
- Create content for social media platforms (based on interest)
- Summer only: Ambassadors will assist with ECS Orientation session and STEM activities at various summer camps
Compensation
- Ambassadors will be paid hourly ($12.00) for employment
- ECS Ambassador uniforms and nametags are provided for work-related activities
- Ambassadors can expect to work anywhere from 2-15 hours per week, depending on their availability and willingness to work at various recruiting events

Purpose
The School of Engineering and Computer Science is looking for engaged Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and/or Engineering majors to serve as mentors and teaching assistants in various courses within Engineering. It is our hope that Teaching Fellows will be individuals that students can look to for guidance and support throughout their engineering education at Baylor.
Expectations
Each Undergraduate Teaching Fellow will be assigned to a specific section of a course. Tasks include assisting with the delivery of course content, helping with in-class activities/labs, grading, and holding evening office/lab hours.

Compensation
We anticipate students in this position to work 8 hours/week at $12/hour for the 15 weeks of the spring semester.

ECS Line camp Leaders play a crucial role in welcoming new engineering and computer science students into the Baylor Family. Leaders will journey with small groups of students throughout Baylor Line camp, cultivating rich friendships and introducing new bears to cherished Baylor values and traditions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as a positive ambassador for Baylor University during Baylor Line Camp to incoming Baylor Students and guests.
- Facilitate an excellent introduction to Baylor for new students by maintaining a helpful attitude and using effective communication techniques. Answer questions about both social and academic aspects of life at Baylor.
- Promote interactions among new students during icebreakers, meals, and other Line camp activities.
- Demonstrate a capacity for adaptability, teachability, and a willingness to serve others Lead a small group of 10-15 new students through the Baylor Line Camp experience.
- Facilitate small group conversations with students about strengths, friendship, tradition, meaningful service, and discovering one's unique calling. Serve on a team and seek to build community with 45-50 of your peers
- Assist with the staffing and facilitation of various Baylor Line Camp events (Independence, Sing, Large Group Sessions, etc.).
- Attend and fully participate in all BLC Leader training and activities.
- Develop and demonstrate skills in facilitating small and large groups.
- Work with office staff to prepare all orientation programming materials.
- Actively participate in other NSP programming in both assigned and unassigned roles.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Elements
- Leaders must be a full-time, undergraduate student who will graduate in December 2025 or later.
- Leaders must be available for all training and program dates as outlined below. Leaders must maintain a 2.5 GPA overall as well as a 2.0 GPA minimum during the spring semester before employment begins.
- Leaders must live on- campus for the term of their employment.
- Leaders will not be allowed to work any other job due to their leadership commitment.
- Leaders will not be able to take summer classes, at Baylor or any other institution (including online classes), due to their leadership commitment and federal law.
- Leaders must affirm New Student Program’s Diversity and Faith Qualification statements.
- Leaders are expected to embody attitudes and behaviors consistent with a Christian community, constantly striving to mirror the life of Jesus Christ (Philippians 2:3-11).
- Leaders will commit to serve, with a heart of love and hospitality, fellow leaders, incoming Baylor students, and all those they come in contact with during their employment.
- Leaders agree to abide by all aspects of the University's Student Conduct Code for the duration of their employment.
- If for any reason, from the time a leader is selected to serve with New Student Programs until they end of their service, a leader is in violation of the Student Conduct Code, they must inform the Assistant Director for Leadership & Curriculum within 48 hours of the violation.
- Leaders will agree to and abide by all NSP Student Leader Expectations. Leaders are expected to sign this agreement before they accept this leadership position.

- Leaders will need to arrive for training by 10am the morning of July 22.
- *If leaders would like to arrive before July 22 please reach out to staff directly. Leaders are welcome to stay until August 1.
Compensation
- Leaders will be paid hourly ($12.50) for their employment. *Time and a half is given for working hours over 40 hours a week.
- Housing and program meals will be provided during the term of employment.
- Baylor Line Camp uniforms are provided for work related activities and programs.
- A typical pay period (2 weeks) would consist of over 100 scheduled work hours.
