AI Certificate Program

AI in Government Certificate

This certificate program is being offered for the first time in Spring 2026 and limited to the employees of a specific local government entity. If other entities are interested in a certificate tailored to your needs, please contact ECS_Graduate_Programs@baylor.edu.

Certificate Plan Credit: EGR 4320 AI in Government (new course) 

Delivery Mode: online with interactive elements Roll out plan: The first time it will be in-person class to record videos for subsequent Online teaching with hybrid elements.

The first program, taught by Dr. Keith Schubert, is being offered in three of the following four 8-week units: Basics of AI in theory and practice, Ethics in AI, Generative AI for Public Messaging and Workflow Automation, AI Capstone Project. 

The course is being placed at the 4000 level to meet the needs of students who might want to apply it to either a BS or MS level degree after completion.
