Basic Sales Boot Camp for Engineers

Baylor Engineering and Computer Science teamed up with the Baylor Center for Professional Selling to provide a unique opportunity to our engineering students. Studies have found that students graduating with sales coursework and skills are receiving job offers with compensation packages equivalent to those graduating with an MBA. 

This month-long bootcamp is separated into three courses.

1. Basics: Professional Selling

      Course Objectives

  • To understand the basic roles of the sales function in organizations.
  • To explore the mindset, skills, disciplines, and systems of successful professional selling and related relationship building.
  • To learn how to conduct a successful diagnostic-based, value-creating sales presentation.
  • To practice active listening as a preferred communication style.
  • To develop sales-skill competency through classroom practice and role-playing sessions.

2. Basics: Business Markets

      Course Objectives

  • To help students understand business-to-business (B2B) marketing and the related activities.
  • To provide students with an understanding of value creation activities in B2B markets.
  • To familiarize students with the supplier’s and retailer’s view of the market.
  • To explore how to create customer experiences in B2B markets.

3. Basics: Sales Managment

      Course Objectives

  • To help students understand sales management and the activities within this domain.
  • To expose students to the responsibilities of sales managers and the strategic role of sales within organizations. 
  • To teach students the basics of formulating, implementing, and evaluating a sales program.  
  • To familiarize students with the activities involved in managing a sales force.
