Dr. Pack joins Baylor after seven and a half years as Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. Previously, he was Mary Clarke department Chair and Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA). He became a full professor at the U.S. Air Force Academy and holds electrical engineering and engineering science degrees from Purdue, Harvard, and Arizona State.
Researcher helped start Bioinformatics major, served as Professor of Bioinformatics and Chair of Computer Science Department, then as Interim Dean during the 2022-23 school year. Baker also was a faculty member in Baylor’s Institute of Biomedical Studies. He and his wife, Dr. Lori Baker, served on the National Campaign Steering Committee for Baylor University’s Give Light Campaign.

In March 2023, student organizations Women in Computer Science (WiCS) and Society for Women Engineers (SWE) hosted a Women In Stem panel discussion to commemorate Women’s History Month. Students enjoyed a rousing conversation, with the panel sharing wisdom including insights on their areas of focus, career paths, workplace dynamics, and mentor relationships.

On March 30, 2023, one of Baylor's finest professors, Ken Van Treuren, Ph.D., delivered his 2022 Baylor University Cornelia Marschall Smith Professor of the Year lecture. Dr. Van Treuren shares his remarkable life journey that includes Oxford, Princeton, and the U.S. Air Force Academy before explaining his motivation for spending the last 24 years teaching and researching in Baylor's Mechanical Engineering Department.

For the third consecutive year, the Baylor Cybersecurity team advanced to Regionals in the Southwest Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (SWCCDC) after placing in the Top 8 at the Qualifier round on February 18. The first-place team from Regionals being held March 17 – 19 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, will advance to the National CCDC being held April 28-30.

I knew I wanted to be an engineer in the eighth grade, mainly because of my love for aviation. I applied to Baylor at the urging of my high school best friend who had come to Baylor the year before. When I first visited the campus, I didn’t even know it had an engineering program because the program was still in its infancy when I arrived in 1987.
Heather Benoit graduated from Baylor's School of Engineering and Computer Science with a bachelor's degree in engineering in 2009 and her master's in biomedical engineering in 2011. Today, she is a senior mechanical engineer and program manager at M3 Design, Inc., a leading product development and technology consulting firm that specializes in building the future.
This year, Baylor’s School of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) celebrates 25 years! Baylor chose to shine the light on our engineering and computer science programs in 1995 when the University created the School, and our work continues to be an important part of Baylor's strategic plan, Illuminate. As a result, we are geared up and ready to help Baylor become a Research 1 (R1) university in the coming years.
Thanks to the healthy building movement, it is more common for building designs to promote employee health, but there is a gap between theory and application. One Baylor research team sought to bridge that gap, and they needed a computer scientist to accomplish the task.
