ECS Announces Inaugural Alumni & Friends Awards Honorees
As part of the Baylor School of Engineering and Computer Science’s 30th Anniversary celebration in 2025-26, ECS has established a new Alumni & Friends Awards program. Four ECS alumni, a Faculty Emeritus, and longtime ECS Board members are among the honorees who will be celebrated at a special awards dinner and ceremony to be held November 13, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. at the President’s Suite in McLane Stadium. They are:
Dean’s Medal of Honor: William "Bill" E. Mearse, BBA '78, MBA '79
Distinguished Achievement Award: Dr. Kwang Y. Lee
Gold Award: David Engfer, BSI '06
Gold Award: Ryan Malone, BSME '02
Green Award: Ryan Andrews, BSME '14
Green Award: Dr. George Montañez, MSCS '11
"Over the past three decades, ECS has benefited immensely from the contributions of so many accomplished alumni, friends, and supporters,” said Daniel Pack, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Engineering and Computer Science. “We are creating new opportunities to more visibly celebrate their achievements, more thoroughly express our gratitude for their strong support, and more meaningfully recognize their dedication to Baylor and to ECS students, faculty, and staff. Without them, and without this year's incredible honorees, ECS would not be what it is today."
Honorees were nominated by alumni and selected for their achievements, leadership, and dedication to Baylor ECS. The awards committee consisted of the leadership of the School of Engineering and Computer Science. Descriptions of the awards can be found here, and bios of each awardee can be found here.
“We are excited to launch this awards program as part of the ECS 30th Anniversary beginning in Fall 2025, and we look forward to connecting with as many alumni and friends as possible in this special year,” said Lane Murphy, director of marketing and communications for ECS. “The school’s 25th Anniversary celebration was complicated by Covid-19 in 2020, so celebrating ECS with our alumni and friends in a more meaningful way feels well past due.”
