Kwang Y. Lee, Ph.D.

Kwang Y. Lee, Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus, Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Baylor University. Lee served as department chair from 2007 to 2023, when he received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award to South Korea. For 21 years, Lee was a professor at Penn State University, where he directed the Intelligent Distributed Control Systems Labs. Previously, he was an associate professor at the University of Houston and an assistant professor at Oregon State University and Michigan State University. Lee has been honored among the Top 2% of researchers worldwide, according to how often his work has been cited by others. He is an IEEE Life Fellow and IFAC Technical Committee 6.3 Past Chair on Power and Energy Systems. His academic specializations are Power and Energy Controls, Intelligent Controls, Computational Intelligence. Lee supervised more than 107 graduate students, conducted over 30 sponsored research projects, and published more than 620 publications in refereed journals, conferences, book and book chapters. He managed over 31 research projects funded by external agencies including NSF, DOE, EPRI, Navy, and more. He earned his Ph.D. in Systems Science at Michigan State University, his M.S.E.E. at North Dakota State University, and his B.S.E.E. at Seoul National University.
