The ECS Research Showcase
April 25, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Rogers Engineering & Computer Science Building, 105 Baylor Ave., Waco, Texas
All current ECS students are eligible to participate. $1,200 in total prizes will be awarded, with three undergraduate and three graduate prizes. Everyone is invited to attend and support participating students. The awards ceremony begins at 3:45 p.m.
ELIGIBILITY AND CRITERIA
All ECS students are eligible to enter the Research Showcase. Judging criteria are visual presentation, technical value, and content delivery.
POSTER SUBMISSION
Digital poster entries are due to the link below by Friday, April 18. Only one entry per group allowed. Only one entry per individual allowed. It is possible for an individual to enter one group and one individual poster, but a presenter must be at each poster during the judging window. If a group poster wins a prize, the total prize amount will be divided among the group.
Entering a poster from a course or competition you have already participated in this academic year is allowed, but it must be from this academic year, 2024-25. Posters must be your original content. Both research and design project posters are allowed.
Examples of poster formats are at the bottom of the page. ECS staff will print all posters. Students must use the template below (.pptx) for this competition.
Download the Research Poster Template
Upload your file to the Box folder below. Be sure to review your poster carefully before submitting, as ECS staff will only print each poster once.
To submit your file, simply email it to Lane_Murphy@baylor.edu.
After the poster submission deadline, return to this page, where more details will be posted, such as the competitor list and where to find your printed poster that ECS staff will set up on the day of the event. After the event, at least one person in your group will receive an email from Rocketjudge.com, which is the online judging platform where you can see your scores and judge feedback. Students can take their posters, but please leave the cardboard backing.
JUDGING
Judges will evaluate the visual presentation, technical value, and content delivery. The ECS Board of Advocates, faculty, and special guests will serve as judges from 2 to 3:30 p.m. inside the Rogers Building. The number of judges required depends on Board member availability and number of posters entered. Volunteer judges should supply their cell phone number and preferred email to Lane_Murphy@baylor.edu. Judges will score their assigned posters (instructions will be on the ballot). You will receive a ballot via text and/or email, and then score your ballot electronically in real time. There are no paper ballots. On the day of the showcase, you can locate the posters you will evaluate by using the maps displayed on digital screens on each floor or Rogers.
DETAILS FOR THE DAY OF THE SHOWCASE
The competition is in the Rogers Building, 105 Baylor Avenue. Between 2 and 3:40pm, at least one student must be present at all times to present to judges. Be prepared to present several times as judges and attendees come by your poster.
When you arrive at the event, check at the bottom of this webpage or on the digital screens to find your poster location. Dress as if you are presenting at a conference. Presentations to judges should last no more than 5 to 7 minutes.
Check the maps and list below (coming April 25) to find your poster location. Please make sure to be by your poster by 2 p.m. There's no guarantee a judge will have time to come back by if no one is there to present. Judges will stop by at different times, and at least three judges should visit your poster. At 3:40, meet in the Rogers lobby for results and awards. You can take your poster, but leave the board and easel.
Winners will be announced at the end of the event at 3:45 p.m. in the Rogers lobby.
