Bio
Dr. Freeman's research is in the realm of visual computing, with a focus on video. His current work involves the reinterpretation of video data without discrete image frames, in favor of an asynchronous representation. The resulting representation dramatically reduces the data burden for downstream applications, thereby reducing the cost of networking and processing in computer vision systems. He is exploring the implications for applications deployed in large-scale video surveillance systems.
Outside of research and teaching, Dr. Freeman enjoys hiking and camping with his family, taking landscape photos, making specialty coffee, and listening to jazz music.
