Ryan Malone

  • Chief Development Officer, Archaea Energy, a bp company

Ryan Malone is currently the Chief Development Officer (CDO), for Archaea Energy, a bp company, and is responsible for developing and delivering roughly $1 billion/year of capital investment choices for Archaea’s US nation-wide Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) portfolio.  

Prior to joining Archaea, Ryan was the Sustaining Capital Portfolio Manager, within bp’s world-wide operations organization, and was responsible for recommending capital investment choices across bp’s 6 global refineries, 7 production regions, and across the building new energy portfolio.

Specializing in the energy industry for a career spanning 24 years, Ryan has held numerous positions within bp, an international major energy company, including Executive, Project Management, Operations, Engineering and in Organizational Transformation roles. Ryan has worked in Wyoming, Louisiana, London, Singapore, Korea, and Finland, and has led numerous business units, as well as global centralized organizations.   

Ryan and his wife, Jennifer, have been married for 25 years and have two children, Jack (18) and Eleanor (15). They live in Katy, Texas, and enjoy everything that the greater Houston area has to offer – Astros, good restaurants, Texans, Rodeo, and enjoying the Texas Coast. 

Staying close to what’s important to him, Ryan continues to play an active role at Baylor University where he earned a Mechanical Engineering degree with a Minor in Mathematics in 2022. Ryan is the Vice-Chairman for the Board of the School of Engineering and Computer Science, and he and Jennifer serve as regional sponsors and liaison for Baylor’s Give Light campaign seeking to maintain Baylor as a prominent R1 accredited research institution.

In addition to his work in the energy industry, Ryan is a strategy consultant for a $1bn community bank based in West Texas, near his family’s ranch where they raise cattle, sheep and goats. He very recently graduated from the Executive Leadership in Banking Institute at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Ryan cares deeply about the community within which he was raised and is helping to strengthen certain aspects of the bank.
