Dr. Lu Wang

Lu Wang, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Electrical & Computer Engineering at Baylor University. Prior to joining Baylor, she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Health Systems and Population Health Sciences at the University of Houston, and previously served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Texas State University. She received her Ph.D. in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto and her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Wayne State University. 

Wang's research focuses on developing Human-Centered Adaptive, Interactive, and Explainable AI (HC-aiXAI) for real-world decision support, particularly in healthcare. She develops machine learning, multimodal graph neural networks, survival analysis, digital twins, and multi-agent AI systems that integrate multimodal data, human expertise, and privacy-preserving technologies to enable adaptive, interpretable, and trustworthy diagnosis, risk prediction, and personalized treatment planning. Her research has been supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the MD Anderson Cancer Center.
